Itinerary

Le Défi Occitan is a journey of 197 kilometers and 4500 meters positive.
Almost the entire route is on roads where you can enjoy all the charm of this land.
The only way to do this is by booking travel through the Central Reservations le Défi Occitan, the launching point for travel in Vielha. You can make the journey in the sense that you prefer. If we choose the direction to clockwise, for your information this is the toughest and demanding sense of the two possibilities.

We will start the challenge Occitan up the first hill, Plan Batalha, unpublished port for the general public and that we are entering a series of lush forests. After a rapid decline, we will rest a few miles and a few kilometers from the border town of St.Beat to arrive where we started the first meal of the day, the Col de Mente, 9.5 km to 8.9%. From the hill we drop a lot of fun to break ground after a climb the beautiful legs of Cols Buret and Ares, where the abundant vegetation will protect us in the hottest days. After a rapid descent, about 20 kms will initiate more of the classic north, our Pyrenees. After passing through this area, we arrive at St.Bertrand of Comminges, a town dominated by its impressive cathedral, where we will have to rise, we pass to seal.
We will leave this magical place and begin the second part of the challenge Occitan, which are strung at 65 miles without rest, the Port de Bales, Port Portilhon Deth and Guardader d'Arres. After leaving St.Bertrand to arrive at Comminges Mauléon Barousse, starting point of the Port de Bales, 20 km climb, where are the last 11 kilometers and 8.4% points to 17%. Once crowned the port, we can enjoy fantastic panoramic views and a dramatic fall through the valley of Oueil reaching Bagnères Luchon where we start the port that will lead us again to Aran, the Port Portilhon Deth, 7 miles to 8.5%. After a rapid decline that leads to Bossòst, starting point of the difficulty of the last day, Guardader d'Arres, entirely new port and a length of 7.2 kilometers to 8.5% will be the last effort before to complete your great challenge, the challenge Occitan.
